CLAUDIA ROSE

Eutierria

- Mild Steel Plate and Cyanotype Print -

LOCATION NO. 3

Eutierria by Claudia Rose is a sculptural reflection upon natural and urban environments that exist within proximity towards one another. Through visuality upon relationship of inhabitant driven environments to land(scape ecosystems) driven environments, Eutierria evokes conversation toward difference between understanding of living/nature spaces to urban/natural spaces and understanding of how interaction and interference upon these spaces can stimulate and eradicate dependent upon cultural, socio-economic and geographic influence.  Eutierria consists of four individual cyanotypes upon metal plates. By materiality of print and physicality of environmental corrosion, the degradation and disintegration will perform as a contemplation toward spaces and regeneration toward environments origin.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Claudia Rose’s (b.1995) sculptural practice deliberates concerns of self/other to self/identity
through relationship of nostalgia, of phantasy, of mythology. Through visualisation upon narratives, Rose’s multi-disciplinary approach lures imagined realms of past and present to the fore. The observation of self emanates through somatic and tactile relation to environment, whilst, other emanates through disobedience upon reality. Summoning
humanisation upon synthetic, Rose’s objects of comfort, of sanctuary and of familiarity often wander toward oblations for an omnipresent being that seeks refuge amid material
interventions. Drawing inspiration from transient/dwelling spaces, the odyssey of recollection and aesthetic cultures that yield to exterior influence, Rose’s practice situates the
imagined amid the commonplace. Through liminal spatiality toward contemplation of otherworlds and our world, the deliberation of materiality – the journey of purpose and
longing – creates breathe upon its layered complexity. Rose’s practice highlights the collective desire to place sentience upon objects and spaces.
Upon graduating from the Belfast School of Art, Rose has exhibited at The Mac (Ulster University BA/MFA Graduate Show), Queen Street Studios (Emergence IV) and Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre (Under the Same Sun), Bangor Walled Garden. Supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Rose will debut a new body of work at Queen Street Studios (Strife).
